What customers say?

“ This place is where we feel like we are back in Japan. The sake list is unparalleled and the food is absolutely created with love and attention. It can be sometimes a little slow but that’s ok! The ambiance is perfect and you just need to order another glass of Sake and relax. Slow mindful dining and a meaningful experience where everything is delicious and served with care. ”

“ This is a great Japanese tapas/izakaya spot in the valley. Everything was delicious, particularly the sushi and sake. The ambiance is amazing since it’s limited seating, creating an intimate vibe. It’s best to make reservations and parties are limited to four, so this is a great date night spot. Parking is free and abundant. ”

“ Shocked to find such an outstanding Japanese place in the Valley. Almost don’t want the word to get out especially given the cozy set up and space but I love this place dearly and want the best for ethe establishment so I can come back. Omakase will not disappoint along with countless other dishes you can choose from. Truly a gem ”

“ Omakase (regular) was fantastic... every dosh was exquisite. Just wish the dishes came out faster, we were there for a few hours. We got to talk a lot but was a very slow dinner (like 15-20 nins between each dish). Would've also preferred some appetizer sooner because we didn't get anything for like the first 30 mins which left our drinks a bit lonely. Maybe some edamame? The quantity of food was satisfying but we weren't full until adding the karaage (would do 2 instead of 4 next time though since the balls were huge). Tbh I would prefer regular karaage over this ball form-- it was very hot and inconvenient to eat. The outer layer wasn't very tasty but the inside was cooked perfectly. The fish was out of this world, everything about the fish was fantastic. The salmon, yellowtail, tuna, and snapper were our favorites. All the other dishes were great too-- it even made me enjoy daikon which I usually don't like! I didn't realize the omakase was at a table instead of the bar. Would've at least been nice for the chef to meet with us because I usually expect interaction with the chef at an omakase. The yuzu drop sake cocktail and the seasonal sake (Mayami Hiyaoroshi) were to die for, very delicious. The waiting staff was incredibly attentive-- just read through one of the menus and they'll come right away. Also seems they ensure you've finished your for before coming with the next plate which is nice (just wish it was faster since we were very hungry). Overall great experience, felt classy and everything was delicious. Come here when you're not starving and you'll have a good time. Overall cost us around $450 for 2 with tax and tip and 5-6 drink orders. Worth every penny. ”

“ We had a fantastic dinner at Bar Uerukamu. It's hidden in an odd strip mall, and has a very authentic izakaya ambiance. It sort of reminds me of fun spots we discovered down alleyways or mall corridors on a recent trip to Japan. It's just 5-6 tables, so make a reservation. You're greeted with a delicious little amuse bouche of soba noodles, and things get better from there. The hot "tapas" we had were all terrific: curry karage, yan fries, and a tempurafied twist on calamari. We also enjoyed a creative pickle platter and a thoughtful sake flight. The highlight though, was the fish. I've only been in LA for 4 years, and have been to maybe 20 different sushi spots in that time. It was hands down the best tuna I've had -- and the best sushi rice. The approach is very no frills, with only two simple maki rolls offered -- so don't go expecting fried soft shell crab California rolls (or any other major creations). But if you want to see the fish shine, this is a fantastic place to do it. Price was very reasonable for the quality of the food. The only downside was that the service was slow as the (I think) 2-person kitchen carefully produced dishes one at a time. Servers were great, though. Really an A+ experience overall. ”

“ One of the best dining experiences in all of LA. The service is impeccable, all of the staff are so friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and the sake selections. There is a huge selection of delicious food served in small, shareable portions, so take a couple friends and order to your heart's content. You can't go wrong, everything is fresh and flavorful, and they always have specials featuring unique and/or seasonal ingredients that will have you coming back again and again so you don't miss a thing. They also have an amazing selection of sake and cocktails and can help guide you to a new favorite if you're unsure of what to try. Bar Uerukamu will become your home away from home after a single visit. Just make a reservation before you go, it's a small space, so help them plan accordingly by calling or booking ahead. But book soon, your life hasn't started until you've eaten at Bar Uerukamu. ”
